"I would define "scientism" as the dominant religion in the USA, and much of the "developed" world, i.e; a cult which believes that the pursuit of science is the most reliable and believable paradigm which if not now at some point in the future can explain everything, which can answer all problems, and which is based solely on rational thought, the only output of the human mind which can be relied upon to contain any kernels of truth. This is not to say that pursuit of the scientific method is not a powerful and useful tool, but to the person who only has a hammer in their toolbox, the whole world looks like a nail."
